Dynamo Three Stage Programme

Teacher/Parent-led Activity Plans using Concrete Apparatus
Using Tactile Manipulatives, children develop maths principles through touch, feel and play. The Maths on-line programme has a comprehensive list of proven activities that the teachers, parents or carers can use with individual children or in a classroom setting to support this first stage of learning.
Dynamomaths approach is that children should learn to ‘model’ their learning using some form of supporting apparatus such as games or puzzles. These classroom apparatus, also known as concrete apparatus provide powerful mental images and concrete experiences where children touch, feel, model, talk and reason their mathematical learning before they reinforce their learning using either the software or paper and pencil procedure. This approach allows children to develop visual and spatial representations of the skills being practised.
