Stage 1: Multi-Sensory Games
Multi-Sensory Games with Downloadable Resources
Multi-sensory teaching methods have an important place in learning as it harnesses various learning styles. The multi-sensory activities within the Three Stage Programme have been designed to introduce mathematical concepts that are supported by easily downloadable resources.
Dynamomaths approach is that children should learn to ‘model’ their first stage in their learning using the multi-sensory activities. These activities provide powerful mental images, memory hooks and concrete experiences. The multi-sensory experience engages children to touch, feel, model, talk and reason their mathematical learning before they reinforce their learning using either the on-line software or paper and pencil procedure.

The advantage of these activities is that it helps the children to learn and reinforce maths concepts using more than one of their senses and generates positive feelings about maths. It also actively involves and engages the learner and improves retention. This tried and tested approach allows children to develop visual and spatial representations of maths skills being practised.
"The multi-sensory activities are excellent as they work around the area of maths that my pupils are struggling with. I love the downloadable resources, as they are so easy to print. It’s all there ready for me. We have enjoyed working with them”. SENCo Hertfordshire.
"Well thought activities to directly support children that are anxious and worried with their maths”. SEN Middlesex
These are some of the examples. There are many more Teacher/Parent teaching plans within Dynamo Maths
for you to use with your children. |
