Dynamo Three Stage Programme

On screen Practice using Visual Models and Images
Dynamo Maths On-line uses visual models, images, memory hooks, audio and visual stimuli to engage the child to develop number sense and numeracy proficiency.
Currently 180 interactive modules are available with more modules, activities and worksheets being added regularly |

The software has excellent reporting features that are transparent and informs both the child and the teacher instantly where they are in their learning, where they can be and most importantly it shows the gaps in learning. Research indicates that immediate feedback improves performance (Duffin 2005).
All the on-line modules are mapped to EYFS and KS1 curriculum through National Curriculum Level Descriptors and the 21 Dyscalculia difficulties.
Dynamo 1 is an excellent stepping stone to early maths that uses visual models and images, ‘memory hooks’, colour etc to give number symbols a meaning, relationship and magnitude. The programme involves the decoding of number symbols and develops the important skills of subitising, counting, ordering, sequencing and number bonds up to 10.
These foundational tools give a ‘feel’ for numbers up to 10, develops automaticity of number recognition, recall and application and begins the ‘number sense’ journey.
Dynamo 2 expands the knowledge, logical structure and relationship of numbers to operations involving numbers. It develops a sense of ten as a foundation for reading number value and mental calculations. Using audio, visual and working memory it develops logical thinking and mathematical reasoning whilst also developing confidence, automaticity, recognition and recall.
Dynamo 3 and Dynamo 4 continues to use visual models and images to give a deeper understanding of the whole number system and also introduces topics connected to numbers such as money, clock fractions, odds and evens, pictograms, place value etc. Children start using and applying numbers with ease and improve their numeracy proficiency and confidence with numbers.
